Hayleys Little Munchkins in Scarborough is an outstanding childcare setting, as recognised by its latest Ofsted inspection on March 18, 2024. The nursery operates from Monday to Friday, catering to children aged 2 to 4 years.

Sessions run from 8:15 am to 4:45 pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 8:15 am to midday on Friday. It is open all year round, closing only for bank holidays and a two-week period over Christmas.

Staff members, all holding appropriate early years qualifications, provide a warm and welcoming environment where children happily settle and become highly independent. The dedicated team, including a manager with qualified teacher status and an owner with a level 5 early years qualification, expertly plans learning experiences tailored to each child's starting points, ensuring exceptional progress.

The setting places a strong emphasis on developing children's behaviour, emotional understanding, and social skills through teamwork and celebrated achievements. Children make exceptional progress across all areas of learning, including developing strong mathematical skills and a love for reading, accessing books independently and learning new vocabulary.

The setting also provides excellent support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), with a dedicated coordinator working closely with staff and external agencies to ensure any learning gaps are quickly identified and addressed, helping children make the best possible progress. Parents and carers are actively involved in the setting through stay-and-play sessions and regular meetings, consistently commenting on the excellent progress their children make and the individual support they receive at home.

The management team provides exceptional support for staff, prioritising their well-being and celebrating achievements, which contributes to a positive and effective learning environment for all.

SEND provision

The special educational needs coordinator works with staff to ensure any gaps in children's learning are quickly identified. The team work closely with other agencies, for example speech and language therapy to provide support for children and their families. As a result, children with SEND make the best possible progress in their learning.
