Highlands Village Pre-School, established in 1998, operates during term time, 38 weeks annually, and is dedicated to fostering a safe and stimulating environment where children can thrive socially, emotionally, and intellectually. The pre-school embraces the individuality of each child, tailoring activities to their unique strengths and needs, allowing them to develop at their own pace.

While not offering formal reading and writing lessons, the curriculum focuses on building foundational skills necessary for school, such as counting, number recognition up to ten, letter recognition, and name recognition. The approach emphasizes well-planned and enjoyable play, which is believed to enhance critical thinking, comprehension, and language abilities, as well as encourage creativity, exploration, and independent conclusion-drawing.

The pre-school also incorporates 'Cultural Capital' through intentional curriculum design and implementation, aiming to broaden children's perspectives, reduce disadvantage, and deepen their understanding of their community and the wider world. This is achieved through a balanced curriculum aligning with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), offering a blend of adult-led activities and child-initiated play, outdoor learning, and individualized support.

Leaders and staff provide an inspirational and ambitious curriculum that engages children exceptionally well. Staff provide an enticing environment with plentiful resources and natural materials, encouraging children to freely explore and experiment in imaginative ways. They effectively interact and communicate with children, instinctively knowing when to provide extra support or allow independent learning, leading to rapid progress in learning and development.

Pricing & funding

Fees are structured around half-day sessions, full-day sessions, and additional top-up hours. Charges also apply for weekly consumables, meals, extracurricular activities, and half-termly enhancements. Breakfast is charged separately to funding.
