Children at Highnam Under Fives develop a strong sense of belonging and independence from a young age, learning to self-register upon arrival and collecting their own coats for outdoor play. The curriculum approach fosters curious and resilient learners who engage in imaginative play and problem-solving activities, such as exploring arctic animals and melting ice.
The nursery places importance on outdoor learning, with a muddy "wild area" where children are encouraged to wear wellingtons to explore and develop physical skills and understanding of the world. Staff build strong bonds with the children, knowing them well and supporting their individual learning journeys.
The setting also supports early writing skills through various activities and promotes a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Strong partnerships with parents are a key feature, and the staff team works collaboratively to provide a nurturing and educational environment.
