About this day nursery

Home From Home Children's Day Care Ltd offers nurturing and holistic early years education across 4 convenient locations in Surrey, catering to children aged 6 months to 5 years. Established in 2012, the nursery aims to provide a home-like environment where children can explore, learn, and develop at their own pace with care, compassion, and creativity.

They embrace the Danish Hygge philosophy, fostering a cosy and calm atmosphere where children feel safe and supported, starting each day with morning huddles to build a sense of belonging and confidence. Their approach is child-led, allowing children to make decisions in a structured and safe setting, encouraging independent thinking and curiosity.

The curriculum incorporates a "Learning Lab" for early concepts in maths, literacy, and science through hands-on activities, "Play Stations" for interactive learning, and "Outdoor Play" for physical activity and nature exploration. Individualised care is a cornerstone, ensuring each child's unique needs are met.

The nursery also prioritises nutritious meals through a partnership with Zebedees, and maintains low staff-to-child ratios for personalised attention. Parents are kept informed through real-time communication via the Famly app.

The nursery has dedicated rooms for different age groups: Hedgehog Room (0-2 years), Squirrel Room (2-3 years), and Owls Room (3-5 years), each designed to support developmental needs and prepare preschoolers for school.

Our ethos

Our mission is simple: to create a cosy, nurturing environment where children can explore, learn, and develop at their own pace. We embrace the Danish philosophy of comfort and contentment, creating a space where your child feels safe, cared for, and emotionally supported. We believe children grow best when given the freedom to explore and learn at their own pace. Our child-led approach allows them to make decisions in a structured, safe setting, encouraging independent thinking and curiosity. Each child is unique, so we tailor our approach to meet their individual needs, ensuring they feel supported and valued every step of the way.

Home from Home is a fantastic nursery! The staff are incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Each week is packed with fun, themed activities that spark my son’s creativity, and they often head out on lovely walks—which he absolutely loves. The outdoor area is brilliant, full of opportunities to explore and play, including growing seeds—a wonderful hands-on experience for the children. They also do regular baking sessions, making crumbles, flapjacks, cookies and more, which my son talks about with such excitement.

Our son has been at Home from Home for a year now, and we’ve been really happy with the care and support he’s received. He’s developed such a lovely bond with the staff, who are always nurturing and genuinely care about him and all the children in their care. Since joining, we’ve seen him grow so much in confidence, which is a real testament to the warm and encouraging environment the team creates. The staff are always coming up with creative, engaging activities, and we love that the children are regularly out and about in the community. Imagination, fun, and kindness are clearly at the heart of everything they do, and we’re so grateful to everyone at Home from Home for helping our son thrive.

Our little boy started at Home From Home Woking just before his First Birthday and we couldn’t happier, more importantly he couldn’t be happier. Home from Home is everything you could hope for from a nursery and so much more. All of the staff are amazing and the warmth and care they have for our little one really shows. Each week they put so much thought into the activities they plan for the children, helping them learn and develop while having lots of fun. Knowing our little one is being supported with his needs and being shown so much genuine care and attention makes leaving him at nursery so much easier.

Home from Home Woking was a wonderful environment for my son. It's big enough for the children to have plenty of different spaces to explore but small and homely enough to feel like the best setting when making the decision of where to get childcare support for such young children. The team are fantastic and so professional. They helped my son to feel safe and secure as well as develop so many new skills and connections along the way. They really noticed his individual personality - telling me about his day and things unique to him. The consistency of team members made a real difference as it feels like they all support each other as much as the children. Special shout out to Naomi - I'll never forget her patience and going the extra mile while my son was learning to use the toilet. We miss you Home from Home! We still talk about you and have lots of memories of fun activities, songs and games. Thank you for everything x

Both of my children have attended Home from Home. My eldest joined as one of the first children at the Woking branch when it was first setting up and it’s great to see how much this nursery has developed and invested in its staff and the environment for the children. It’s been so lovely having many of the same staff looking after our youngest who were there for my eldest. They are all so lovely and caring and really get to know your child individually, supporting their needs and development. Thank you for everything you do. 😀
