About this day nursery

Kids Planet Fazakerley, a childcare setting on non-domestic premises in Liverpool, offers a happy and engaging environment for children aged 0-4 years. " Babies are encouraged to explore and investigate, developing their physical skills and confidence through activities such as splashing in the water tray and learning to balance.

Older children enjoy active play, including following instructions from a sports coach to develop listening and attention skills essential for school. The provision has a strong focus on children's personal development, with staff having high expectations for behaviour and supporting children in learning about their feelings, sharing, and taking turns.

Independence is fostered throughout the nursery, with children learning practical skills like putting on coats and shoes, pouring drinks, and using utensils at mealtimes. The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) is highly dedicated, and both managers and staff demonstrate a clear understanding of the specific needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

They effectively identify and intervene when children require additional support, particularly in communication and language development, through regular assessments and targeted activities. Collaborative working with parents and other professionals ensures comprehensive support as children prepare for school.

Outside, children are encouraged to use their imagination during treasure hunts, with staff effectively following their lead in play. While the curriculum for literacy is strong, with quiet areas for children to enjoy books, the nursery is working to further enhance mathematical development, aiming to provide more opportunities for children to learn about mathematical concepts and language.

How they support every child

SEND provision

The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) is passionate about the work she does. Managers and staff also understand the specific needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Staff identify and intervene when children need help with their learning. For example, children's communication and language development is monitored well through regular assessments and screening. This leads to targeted activities, which supports children's development. Partnership working with parents and, where necessary, other professionals ensures that children receive appropriate support as they prepare to start school.

Outdoor space

Outside, children make suggestions as they look through their telescope and spot a 'shark' while on a treasure hunt. Staff follow the children's lead within play effectively. Children are given lots of praise and encouragement as they walk across the 'wibbly wobbly bridge', developing their imagination during play.

We arranged a tour at this nursery and were told there was a place available for our daughter, so we went ahead and completed the online registration form as instructed. We were advised she could start as soon as possible. Unfortunately, several weeks have now passed with no response, despite sending multiple follow-up emails. With the new term about to begin, we are still waiting to hear back. Thankfully, our daughter’s previous nursery kindly agreed to keep her on at short notice, but this situation has caused us unnecessary stress and disappointment. Clearer communication and timely updates would have been greatly appreciated. Update: Nursery had reached out and explained the admin error that happened. Thanks.

My little girl has been attending nursery since she was 9months old. She has loved every minute of coming into nursery, watching her grow and progress into the little girl she has became has been amazing. I couldn’t thank the staff enough for watching my little girl and learning her loads of new things! The staff in preschool has been amazing with her, she loves coming home and telling me all the things she has done and learnt about in nursery.

My daughter has been in this nursery since she was 9 months old and I have never had any problems, all the staff have always made me feel happy when dropping her off and I like to see the updates on the app telling me what she has been doing while I’m in work.
