Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Kids Planet Kilburn demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusion, ensuring that all children, particularly those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) as well as those with additional barriers to learning, receive high-quality support. They maintain ambitious expectations through an inclusive curriculum and build a detailed understanding of each child through effective partnerships with parents, baseline assessments and ongoing observations. This robust approach enables staff to identify emerging needs swiftly and accurately. Well-established systems ensure that any concerns are promptly shared with leaders, and parents are actively involved in decision-making. Individual support plans are implemented without delay and reviewed frequently, and leaders engage with external professionals and implement their guidance to adapt teaching approaches and support. Leaders use additional funding strategically to minimise barriers to learning, investing in staff training, targeted resources and flexible staffing.

The outdoor environment is particularly enriching, offering opportunities to take safe risks, explore nature and develop independence. For example, children grow vegetables, cook at the fire pit and take part in outings to the local park and on bus trips to collect growing resources, which helps children to learn about the wider community.

The staff are what make this nursery deserve 5 stars. My son has attending from being a baby up to preschool and he has bonded with so many of the staff. The staff always seem like they are genuinely enjoying working with the children. They always do seasonal and creative crafts which the children can take home.

My eldest started here in 2018 when she was 10 months and stayed here right through up to pre school when she left to go to school, I currently have my youngest here in toddlers. They are 2 completely different people and both have been extremely happy here! The staff are extremely accommodating and helpful whenever you need any support or guidance. They keep you up to date with your child’s progression and offer their support if you feel your child made need a little extra help in certain areas. My girls come home singing all sorts of songs they have learnt and love talking about their days what they have been up to etc. They adore the grown ups that look after them. I have a lot of confidence that my girls are well looked after and know they have the best day. I will be very sad on my youngest daughters last day. Thank you kingfisher team for everything you do and more!
