About this day nursery

Kids Planet Sale, registered with Ofsted in 2013, provides ‘‘Good’’ childcare for children aged 0-4 years, as rated by Ofsted in its latest inspection on 12th January 2024. 30 pm, the day nursery ensures a welcoming and nurturing environment.

Staff use personalised approaches to help children settle, including providing a teddy bear upon arrival to foster a sense of belonging. The day nursery offers high-quality resources that encourage children's independence and curiosity, with opportunities for self-selection of resources for younger children and structured learning activities for older ones, such as a shop set-up to develop counting and social interaction skills.

A key focus of the curriculum is supporting children's social and emotional development, teaching appropriate behaviours and empathy. A physical development specialist works with older children daily, planning engaging games to enhance large-muscle skills and integrating wider learning across the seven areas of development, including independence and counting skills.

While most staff effectively support communication and language, the nursery has identified an area for improvement in consistently supporting children who speak English as an additional language (EAL) by not always exploring their home language knowledge to inform assessments effectively. The nursery offers abundant home learning opportunities, such as kits for making autumn soup and borrowable resource bags designed to support vocabulary and understanding of positional language.

Children also benefit from regular trips to local community places like care homes and libraries, and visits from local professionals, broadening their understanding of the wider world. The nursery provides funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-old children.

Staff warmly welcome children and use personalised ways to help them settle, including giving them a teddy bear, which helps children feel at ease and develop a sense of belonging. They provide high-quality resources, encouraging independence and curiosity. Children make good progress and develop a thirst for learning.
