About this day nursery

Kids Planet Shepherd Lodge, registered with Ofsted in 2022, is a childcare setting in Lytham St. Annes that provides a warm and inspiring environment for children aged 0-4 years. Open all year round from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, the day nursery received a "Good" rating from Ofsted on its latest inspection on 28th June 2024.

The dedicated staff, some of whom are bilingual, prioritise getting to know each family and foster strong partnerships with parents, offering advice and resources for home learning. The curriculum is thoughtfully implemented, with well-planned activities that build on children's existing knowledge and introduce them to diverse cultures through foods, flags, and songs.

The day nursery boasts exceptionally well-designed garden areas, including an allotment where children can plant, nurture, and harvest fruits and vegetables. Babies also have access to planters for digging and exploration, fostering curiosity and understanding of the natural world.

For children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), staff identify developmental stages effectively, acting quickly on concerns, and designing individual support programmes. The special educational needs coordinator works closely with staff to accurately measure progress and make well-informed referrals for specialist support.

The nursery also provides excellent support for children with English as an additional language (EAL), with bilingual staff available and other staff learning key words and phrases to help children settle quickly. Children engage in superbly organised physical activities, such as dinosaur-themed football and yoga, led by employed sports coaches.

Children arrive happy and excited to learn in this nursery's warm and inspiring environment. Staff warmly greet children at the start of the day as they enter the rooms. Children benefit from well-planned activities that build upon what they already know and can do.
