About this day nursery

Kidz Day Nursery was established in 2014 by Bill and Julie Whitbread in Ingleton, North Yorkshire, to address the community's need for flexible, child-centred childcare. What began as a small venture quickly expanded, with Bill joining Julie, who brought over two decades of early childhood education experience.

The nursery group is built on core values of care, trust, and a family-first approach, aiming to provide a high-quality, happy, and secure learning environment where every child feels valued. They focus on nurturing development through play, discovery, and strong relationships, integrating families into a connected community.

The nursery strives to create an inclusive and empowering atmosphere, fostering capable, confident, and curious individuals ready to explore the world with energy and resilience. Their philosophy centres on a child-led approach, allowing learning to unfold naturally through exploration and play, with adult support guiding children to make choices and solve problems.

Kidz Day Nursery values strong relationships, inclusivity, and holistic development, working in partnership with families through initiatives like the ParentZone app to ensure shared learning journeys. They also offer stretched funding options for government childcare entitlements across 50 weeks to better support working parents.

The Hutton Rudby branch, opened in 2019, is located on the grounds of Hutton Rudby Primary School and has expanded its services with a forest area.

Our ethos

At Kidz Day Nursery, we believe in the power of a child-led approach, where learning unfolds naturally through exploration, curiosity, and play. With gentle guidance and thoughtful adult support, we create opportunities for children to make choices, solve problems, and build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. By following each child's interests and pace, we nurture confident, capable individuals who feel empowered to discover the world around them—on their own terms, with encouragement every step of the way. We respect each child's voice, interests, and natural curiosity, and believe that through play, children explore, create, and understand the world around them.

Our little girl is a very clingy dot and was very nervous for her beginning nursery but I had nothing to worry about, the ladies at Kidz Day Nursery are the most amazing team looking after the children as they would if they were their own. My little girl absolutely loves nursery and gets excited to go on a morning! I wouldn’t choose anywhere else to send my child.
