Little Barn Owls Ltd welcomes children without discrimination, embracing diversity in gender, race, cultural background, religion, physical or mental ability, health, and social class. The nursery prioritises admissions based on factors like current attendance, siblings already enrolled, transfers from other Little Barn Owls settings, and multi-day bookings, with full-day and full-package bookings receiving preference.
The admission process begins with an enquiry to determine space availability, followed by an optional nursery tour. Upon deciding to register, parents confirm availability and receive a registration form, terms and conditions, and a parent information pack.
The registration form, a non-refundable registration fee of £35, and a £200 deposit must be submitted within 72 hours to secure a spot. For those only using Early Years Funding Entitlement (EYFE), no registration fee is required, and the deposit is refunded after "Headcount Day" in the first term.
The nursery operates an intake window from August to January, allowing children to start within this period based on availability. Bookings are for 51 weeks of the year, with full days from 8 am to 6 pm available on weekdays.
School day sessions (8:30 am to 3:30 pm) are offered on Mondays and Fridays. Families are kept informed about fees and provided with system access and settling-in sessions closer to the child's start date.
What it's like
Children show confidence, a sense of belonging and well-being at this pre-school. They choose the activities they want to do and become fully engaged in their play. Staff are caring and spend time with children, which helps children build positive relationships with them.
Registration requires a non-refundable fee and a deposit, with only the deposit required for EYFE-only bookings. A notice period of three months is required to withdraw a child before starting to avoid losing the deposit. A monthly retainer fee applies for starts outside the standard intake window.

"They comment on how well staff meet their children's individual needs"
"Parents like the daily communication about children's activities and how their child has been"
Inclusion & environment
Staff work closely with all parents, including those whose children have special educational needs and/or disabilities. They successfully adapt activities, so all children can take part and take care to meet children's specific needs.
Children learn through positive staff involvement with their play and experiments, such as when digging in the sandpit and discovering why sand becomes too wet for sandcastles when water is added. Staff ensure children have daily opportunities to play outside.
