About this day nursery

Little Buds Day Nursery, established in 2011 by Jocelyn Crome, aims to provide a nurturing and secure environment for young children in Hackney. The nursery focuses on fostering individualised growth, recognising that each child possesses unique interests and abilities.

The curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), covering essential developmental areas such as physical development, language, literacy, and personal-social-emotional growth. Activities at Little Buds are often theme-based, incorporating topics like seasons and animals to engage children.

The nursery is located within the Huddleston Centre, offering ample space for exploration, including a book corner, a home corner, and a well-equipped garden with play items and a sandpit. They also have a small growing area where children cultivate herbs and vegetables, encouraging an interest in nature and healthy eating.

Little Buds prides itself on its dedicated and experienced staff, many of whom have been with the nursery since its inception. The settling-in process is designed to be flexible and child-led, allowing children to gradually adapt to the nursery routine with parental support.

Little Buds emphasises building confidence, social skills, and strong communication abilities, preparing children for their transition to Reception and Primary School. The nursery is committed to creating a family-like atmosphere where children feel safe, happy, and supported in reaching their full potential.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff quickly identify children who may need more help and provide targeted support, such as small group sessions, to promote attention and communication skills. This helps all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those receiving funding, to become confident and successful learners. A speech and language therapist also advises staff on how to support some children further.

Outdoor space

Staff supervise children closely, both indoors and outdoors. Toddlers have fun as they experiment with different ways to climb and come down the slide.
