About this day nursery

Hill Top Day care Nursery, operating as Roof Top Nursery, provides childcare across two distinct sites in London. It caters to children aged 6 months to four years, with specific age breakdowns for pricing and services.

The nursery operates Monday to Friday, with the Ottaway Street site open for 48 weeks a year, and the Dalston Lane site open for 38 weeks, offering morning and afternoon sessions. They also offer a wraparound service for children attending Benthal Nursery School at their Ottaway Street location.

The nursery accepts various government funding schemes for 2, 3, and 4-year-olds, including the universal 15 hours for 3 and 4-year-olds and the 15 hours for disadvantaged 2-year-olds. They encourage eligible parents to inquire at the nursery office for more information on how to register and utilise available funding.

The application process requires details about the child and main carer, including preferred attendance days and site, and information on any special needs or dietary requirements.

The staff at Rooftop nursery are absolutely stars and go above and beyond to meet children's needs. My son has attended Rooftop from 13 months to 3 years old. The standard of care is outstanding 🌟 Couldn't recommend enough.

Our children have been going to Rooftop nursery for a number of years now. They are well cared for by their key workers with whom they have a great relationship. The staff genuinely care about them. Plenty of opportunity for feedback and communication about progression and the staff take a collaborative approach to working through anything that needs to be addressed. Lovely play areas outside too.

It’s been a wonderful experience for my child and I really have not found an area that needs improvement. The Practioners and staff have been wonderful, supportive and caring and I could not ask for more. Your staff are exceptional! All the staff at Rooftop are so caring about the children – I’m so impressed with the nursery as a whole. They do a lot of fun and educational activities with the children, and I think their use of Tapestry is a great tool to see how your child is getting on, and also share with them activities from home. My child feels safe and happy at nursery and has made a lot of friends. Good experience overall, I have been recommending Rooftop to all family and friends. Overall it’s been nothing short of fantastic, can’t recommend it enough. The staff, the facilities, activities etc for the children have been amazing.

2025 - Update to review: I now have two kids going to Rooftop nursery and I could not be happier! I looked at all of the nurseries in the area: N family, Monkey Puzzle, Rosemary Works etc, and chose Rooftop. It has bigger outdoor areas than a lot of the nurseries, and it is off the main streets (so less traffic pollution), the staff are professional and lovely and really listen to parents, they offer extra activities- yoga, football, French, tiny mites to name a few. The food is great. My kids absolutely love it. Recently they even offered PEEP sessions too - which was a fun weekly class where I could spend time with my daughter at the nursery doing activities with other parents and kids. We really enjoyed it! Highly recommend this nursery. Earlier review from 2022: My daughter attends Roof Top Nursery and loves it! The practitioners are excellent and such lovely people. They always do a range of activities, have nutritious meals, and have good outdoor space on the ground floor and on the roof play area. My daughter loves going to this nursery and is always so happy there. Would highly recommend.

All four of my children have attended this nursery over the years, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the care and love they’ve received and still receive. Each one of them has always felt safe, valued, and excited to go in. One of the highlights of the year is Carers Day. A special event where mums, dads, grandparents, and carers are invited to spend time at the nursery, take part in fun, organised activities with the children, and connect with other families. It’s such a thoughtful way to build a real sense of community and creates one-on-one memories with the child. The nursery also goes above and beyond with extra activities like forest trips, French, yoga, and visits to the local library. My kids come home excited and often beg me to take them back to those places! They also do a fantastic job preparing the children for school. They introduce them to classroom rules and show them school uniforms. The staff make sure the children are confident and ready for September. It’s made a huge difference in how smoothly the transition to primary school has gone for each of my children. Truly a wonderful environment where children can thrive and learn.
