About this day nursery

The dedicated staff ensures a nurturing and enriching environment, with a strong key-person system and bespoke settling-in routines. The setting embraces an EYFS curriculum approach, fostering independence and a love for nature through extensive outdoor learning in their forest school area, where children enthusiastically explore, dig, hunt for bugs, and make puddles.

While staff generally implement the curriculum effectively and support children during play, there are times when organisation of activities and routines could be improved to enhance interactions. Despite this, leaders have made significant improvements since the last inspection, and parents highly praise the staff and setting, particularly regarding the support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

The nursery has a capacity of 24 children, and effective safeguarding arrangements are in place to ensure children feel safe and secure.

The nursery's ethos is based on a forest school teaching approach, aiming to foster children's development, self-esteem, confidence, and resilience through high-quality childcare in a natural world environment. They are committed to tailoring their approach to individual needs and embrace a free-flow, outdoor-focused approach to learning.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), are achieving well and thriving from their individual starting points. Children with SEND benefit from an outdoor sensory area. Children can independently take themselves to this space when they wish. This area provides a natural, calming and sensory-rich environment which can support children to learn to manage times of anxiety or overwhelm. Leaders and staff collaborate closely with parents and specialists to develop personalised support for children with SEND, and parents are part of deciding how early years pupil premium funding is spent. The setting also has extremely detailed care plans in place for children with complex health care needs.

Outdoor space

Outdoors, children explore the forest school area with enthusiasm. They dig, hunt for bugs and make puddles. These activities help build curiosity and a love for nature. Children have opportunities to guide their own play.
