Our ethos
Little Oaks Nursery is a not for profit charity. This means that we can provide competitively priced childcare to families and also invest in our nursery to provide children with high quality learning experiences. We are a highly qualified staff team with lots of experience in early years education. We employ additional practitioners above the stated ratio requirements to ensure children receive the very best care. Our Preschool is designed to promote independent learning and discovery. Children are supported by a team of Early Years Practitioners who promote a love of learning through exploration and curiosity. We recognise the importance of working in close partnership with parents and families and the benefits these relationships have on children’s care and wellbeing. We recognise that as a team we are all unique in our own way and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the nursery. We value individuality, difference and diversity and celebrate uniqueness in all individuals and work hard to ensure that Little Oaks Nursery is a relaxed and friendly environment where every individual is able to be themselves and where individuality is respected and valued. We encourage children to become resilient learners and foster a curious attitude to playing and learning. The children are our curriculum. We use children’s interests and fascinations to plan and deliver meaningful play experiences. We draw inspiration from the natural environment and create invitations to play using natural and recycled materials and resources. We demonstrate respect for our environment, both indoors and outdoors and encourage everyone to care for the resources we provide.

Inspector highlights
Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
parents speak highly of the whole team and the nursery. They say their children's 'progress is amazing' and their child 'is treated as an individual by staff who genuinely care'
Inclusion & environment
The nursery's special educational needs co-ordinator works in partnership with parents and other professionals to ensure children receive as much support as possible from an early age. The provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities is outstanding. Staff complete regular assessments and use their knowledge of child development to identify areas of potential delay from an early age.
Babies are eager to splash in the puddles outdoors, and staff model words and actions for them. Staff ensure children have plenty of access to the curriculum outdoors as they know this is where some children prefer to learn. Young children show high levels of independence as they get their own wellies and put on their own coats.
Children who speak English as an additional language show enjoyment in their session and giggle as they copy actions and words modelled by staff.
Our eldest daughter has attended Little Oaks since 2023 and our son since 2024. Both children love the nursery and key members of staff. I love the app (especially when we receive photo updates). Reception team are always helpful with any queries too. All staff members are friendly and welcoming from both rooms. We are so pleased with how our children are looked after and would highly recommend Little oaks. Thank you.
