Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and those who have barriers to their learning is ineffective. Action is not taken to support children with SEND to access the curriculum, and leaders do not ensure staff use intended visual aids. Staff training is insufficient to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to support children with SEND, and additional funding, such as early years pupil premium, is not targeted effectively to support these children.

EAL / language support

The pre-school needs to ensure there is suitable teaching in place for children with English as an additional language to access opportunities they can benefit from. Children who speak English as an additional language are not supported to access activities to promote their speaking skills, and when seated for group time, they are not given support to understand what is happening, leading to a loss of interest and distraction.
