About this day nursery

Little Tots – Peterborough Mother & Baby Nursery, established in 2015, provides childcare on non-domestic premises within HMP Peterborough. 30pm to 5pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and from 8am to 12pm on Thursday, closing on Thursday afternoon and Friday for staff training and development.

The setting cares for very young children, and although there were no children present at the time of its "Outstanding" Ofsted inspection on 20th April 2023, the report is based on discussions with the caring staff and a review of the premises and documentation. The manager and staff team demonstrate a thorough understanding of child protection and safeguarding, ensuring children's safety is paramount.

The nursery prides itself on its inclusive service, helping children to learn to respect and value differences.

SEND provision

Staff talk about each child being unique and prioritising their individual learning. For the very young children, they create an environment rich in language. For example, the manager explains how they will encourage children to develop their speech and communication skills in the 'cosy corner' and share books or sing a favourite song.

Outdoor space

The provider understands the importance of providing children with fresh air and a variety of opportunities to practise their physical skills. Staff appreciate the value of providing children with a wide range of experiences to help broaden their learning. For example, staff plan trips to local community groups and visits to local shops.
