Longscroft Children's Nursery School, established in 1991, provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Located on the outskirts of Trowbridge and Bradford on Avon, the nursery boasts a rural setting with extensive outdoor spaces, including individual gardens for each age group, a large communal playground, a grassed area with a wooden play trail, rabbits, an allotment, and a mud kitchen.

The nursery emphasises outdoor play in all weather conditions. Longscroft operates from purpose-built rooms, each with age-appropriate outdoor play areas, ensuring a secure and engaging environment for every child.

Security keypads control access to all rooms and outdoor areas. The nursery focuses on personalised learning journeys through indoor and outdoor exploration, guided by the Development Matters framework.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff have high expectations for all children and adapt learning opportunities to help all children, including those who need extra help, make good progress. They carefully identify any gaps or delays in children's learning and promptly implement effective strategies to help them catch up, working closely with other professionals to ensure children get any extra support they need. Staff provide effective support for those whose speech and language are delayed, including using visual aids, song bags, puppets and small-group work.

Outdoor space

The nursery provides a well-resourced learning environment indoors and each room has a dedicated outdoor play area which children enjoy using. Babies wear all-weather suits so that they can crawl around even when the grass is wet. Children of all ages have been involved in growing pumpkins for Halloween in their allotment.
