Lostock Preschool, established in 1977 and located in Lostock Parish Centre in Bolton, offers childcare for children aged 2 to 5 years old on a sessional basis. Lostock Preschool operates Monday to Friday during term time and serves families from various areas of Bolton, including Lostock, Westhoughton, Horwich, Heaton, Deane, Chew Moor, Farnworth, and Little Lever. Free places are available for eligible two and three-year-olds, and they encourage prospective parents to visit.

At Lostock Preschool, our mission consists of providing a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe. Our unique Preschool offers various activities that are specifically designed to encourage each child’s growth. Through cooperative play and creative activities, children reach their social, emotional and physical milestones naturally and with ease.

How they support every child

SEND provision

All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), make good progress in their learning. Staff are passionate about supporting children with SEND and prioritise working together with parents and external professionals to ensure they receive the correct support. Staff provide tailored interventions to support their next steps in learning, which helps close gaps in learning and ensures children with SEND make good progress.

Outdoor space

The curriculum gives children ample opportunities to develop their physical skills. For example, children practise balancing along the stepping stones and climb up the climbing frame safely. Children show good hand-eye coordination as they confidently throw a ball into the air and hit it with the bat. The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact that this was having on children's learning.
