I’ve had 2 children attend Meadow Hill from 2017 to 2023 and couldn’t have asked for a better nursery. The staff and Miss Sonya were excellent and really helped to bring the best out of my children. The children get so many experiences, such as the unbelievable nativity plays, charity fashion shows, cricket tournaments, football, day trips out as well as making the transition to primary school a breeze. Miss Sonya sets the standards very high as she wants the children to leave her nursery with the best start possible in their education. Our children loved going to this nursery and we only have positive things to say. The manners and traditional values that Miss Sonya passionately instills in the children will serve them well for life.

My two children attended Meadow Hill. On first viewing I knew it was for us. Secure, safe, friendly and with a warm atmosphere, it was the only place we were going to send our children. Mrs Sonya runs one of the tightest ships I’ve ever come across, and she manages the nursery with Gousto, passion and has a heart of gold, wanting only the best for the children in her care. The discipline and manners she instills in all the children is testament to her love of early years education and growing our children into polite and well rounded kids who are completely ready for school. Miss Lisa provides a rich curriculum and the levels of numeracy, reading and writing that my children left nursery with were constantly praised by their reception teachers. In addition the extra curricular activities and trips, as well as the out of this world performances over Christmas and the charity fashion show are brilliant. The kids leave with confidence and I can’t speak more highly of meadow hill. They loved spending time in the garden, and with the sports teachers that come in to widen their learnings even further. A truly wonderful nursery that Mrs Sonya has put years of love into and one I would recommend so highly!

I have had two generations of children go through Meadowhill’s outstanding nursery. It provided the perfect foundation for all my children to go to good independent schools. From there they all went on to obtain excellent degrees and now have successful careers.

We have two daughters who both came here, from the age of 8 months old, through to leaving and starting school. We visited all the nurseries in the area and there was literally no comparison. We couldn’t believe the warmth, care, support and attention to detail that was showed daily to all children, from the baby room through to the Pre-School class. Our eldest loved every second of her time at nursery and she was one of the Covid babies. Even though she had some obligatory time away from the nursery, due to lockdown and the rules that came with that, Sonya Biggs was always at the end of a phone, and did her utmost to keep things as normal as possible for the children and their families when they returned to nursery – even holding individual and customised birthday parties for the children whilst at nursery, when they were not allowed to have these outside of an educational setting, due to government guidelines. When our second daughter, was born, it was a given that she would follow in her sister’s footsteps and started in August 2020. Even when we moved out of the area in 2021, there was no way that we even considered for a second changing the nursery for the girls; the longer commute was more than worth it. Our eldest left in 2021 and is now loving her school life and our youngest starts school in September and their respective successes and confidence is in no small part due to the nurturing and discipline that they received at nursery. Sonya and her team go over and above what any parent could ever expect for their children. It is hard to believe that the experiences that they are having under their care are before they even start school. From Fashion Shows to the most incredible Christmas Extravaganzas, Annual Cheese & Wine Garden Parties at nursery, Arts Evenings, trips to Blackpool Zoo, visits on the bus into town and ensuring that the children understand their history and that people gave their lives for us in wars gone by – both girls so enjoyed laying poppies on the cenotaph in Bolton on Remembrance Day. Day to day, their language lessons from French to Mandarin and now Spanish and the dance, golf, football and cricket lessons all do really set them up to learn and have been fantastic experiences. The fact that they have a fully qualified teacher in Pre-School, and that the children have that structure needed to prepare them for school is vital and the work that Mrs Healey and her team put in is glaringly obvious when the children start school as they are streets ahead of other class members. Both girls loved the different projects that they worked on in Pre-School – from learning about the environment and the solar system, to a volcano experiment and learning about Ancient Egypt. We knew when we first visited the setting, that the old school values and emphasis on manners and discipline were what we wanted for our girls, and this is not something that you find everywhere these days. Learning right from wrong, please and thank you, table manners and how to win and, more importantly, how to lose graciously - these are all key elements that seem to be becoming lost in modern society and are so crucial for adult life that the children will grow into. What I am trying to convey is that this nursery is a one off and we feel so lucky that our children had the opportunity to learn and grow under the care of this very special team. There is nowhere like this nursery, and we have been reminded of this time and again over the years, from friends who have children in different nurseries – they are astounded at the opportunities and experiences that are offered to these children from such a young age. They provide a magic and excitement that they would never have got anywhere else. Our only complaint would be that the girls had to stop at Pre-School and there is no Meadow Hill Education and Arts Primary School!
