Mayfield Preschool, serving its community since 1985, offers a nurturing environment for children aged two and older. Located in a countryside setting, the preschool prioritises a fun and stimulating start to early years education, aiming to foster positive attitudes for lifelong learning.
The dedicated team focuses on individualised experiences for each child, ensuring their well-being is paramount while adhering to the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework. The facilities boast beautiful surroundings, including a large garden, soft surface play areas, a sensory garden, and a mud kitchen, all complemented by an extension added in 2016 to enhance both indoor and outdoor learning opportunities.
The preschool operates during term time, Monday to Friday, from 8:45 AM to 3:00 PM, and accommodates funded children for up to 15 hours or more per week. They encourage prospective families to visit their setting to experience their unique approach firsthand.
Our ethos
Mayfield Preschool is committed to fostering positive attitudes for lifelong learning by providing fun, stimulating, and individualised early years education experiences. They centre their learning approach on the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework, aiming to ensure each child's well-being is paramount.
What it's like
Children are extremely confident in their surroundings. Staff are highly sensitive to children's unique needs and give them the time they need to settle into the pre-school. This has a significant impact on children's sense of belonging and the bonds they make with their key-person.
Fees are structured around restricted funded sessions with additional charges for late collections. A voluntary sessional welfare charge is requested to cover mid-session snacks and non-EYFS activities, though parents can opt out by providing their own snack.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities receive exceptional support from staff. Staff work sensitively with parents, who highly appreciate the time, effort and support they give. Staff provide a very personalised programme and they understand how to plan small steps to help children develop at their own rate. Staff continue to develop their knowledge and skills to help meet the particular needs of these children.
Children eagerly choose where to play, inside or outside, choosing from a vast range of experiences. For example, boys use chalks experimentally, rolling them down the hill looking at the marks they are making on the path.
