About this day nursery

Moorlands Day Nursery, situated in Horwich, aims to provide a nurturing and secure environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential. The nursery operates from a purpose-built facility on Chorley New Road, staffed by an experienced and highly qualified team of early years educators.

They are dedicated to delivering exceptional care and education, believing that a happy, relaxed, and safe setting is crucial for a child's development. Moorlands is divided into four rooms, each designed to cater to different developmental stages: Butterflies (under 2s), Ladybirds (2-3 years), Bumblebees (3-5 years), and The Hive (3-5 years), with movement between rooms based on developmental progress rather than age.

Unique to the nursery is a sensory room, accessible to all children, offering a variety of resources to engage and stimulate their senses through lights, smells, textures, and sounds. The nursery strongly emphasises healthy eating, providing freshly prepared, home-cooked, nutritious meals and snacks, with menus rotating every four weeks to ensure variety.

They use local produce, exclude salt from cooking, and accommodate all dietary requirements. Meal times are treated as social occasions, encouraging communication and independence as children participate in setting up, serving food, and pouring drinks.

Moorlands is proudly rated "Good" by Ofsted and holds an Inclusion Quality Award, reflecting their individualised approach to early years provision and strong connections with families and staff.

Both daughters went here for 4 years each. They are the best. We still use the holiday club here and we wouldn’t go anywhere else. The place is clean, tidy and all the staff are welcoming. The staff really care for your kids and all the kids love the staff. They do lots of activities with the kids. Couldn't recommend them enough. 5 Stars.

My Son has attended Moorlands Day Nursery since February 2016 and he thoroughly enjoys it. He loves the girls and the friends he has there. I feel very confident leaving him at Moorlands while I go to work, knowing that he will be well looked after and cared for. I definitely recommend this nursery for anyone looking for childcare.
