The latest Ofsted inspection on 29th May 2025 rated the nursery as "Requires Improvement" overall, highlighting areas such as the key-person system and record-keeping for medical care plans. Despite these areas for development, children are happy and settled in a nurturing environment, with particular praise for the staff caring for the youngest children.
The nursery excels in promoting physical development, with older children enjoying outdoor activities like riding bicycles and climbing. Leaders and staff are committed to the children's well-being and independence, supporting healthy lifestyles and encouraging good oral hygiene.
The nursery also provides a diverse range of experiences, including local community projects and exposure to different cultural cuisines, fostering an understanding of their local and wider world.
What it's like
The nursery requires improvement because the provider has not reflected carefully on its organisation, leading to weaknesses in effective management and the key-person system. Records on children's medical care needs are not consistently up-to-date, and while a curriculum intent is in place, not all children's learning is consistently well supported, particularly in communication and language. Despite these areas for improvement, children are happy and settled in a nurturing environment where staff support their independence and physical development.
Charges are applied for optional dinner money when accessing free entitlement, with rates scaled according to whether a child receives 15 or 30 funded hours. Parents also have the option to send their child with a packed lunch instead.

Areas to develop
Inclusion & environment
The report notes that the key-person system does not fully support children's individual needs, and that required records such as children's individual medical care plans have not been consistently maintained, which hinders the quality of care some children receive.
Older children enjoy spending time in the garden riding bicycles and climbing to develop their large muscles, contributing to the development of both small and large muscles through a variety of learning opportunities.
The report does not provide specific details on EAL support, but does note that staff support older children in expanding their vocabulary with new words such as 'spiky' and 'press'.

Read on GoogleGreat and special school. My daughter loves it at MKDN, always exited to go in every morning .They made her feel so loved. The staffs are very kind, friendly and helpful and have great rapport with the children. We have been given daily feedback regarding eating habits, toilet training, playtime, what she finds interesting, and areas she needs improvement, which is great. They care so much about children’s learning and development and also ensure parents are involved too. Administration teams are efficient and wonderful. Always updating parents with the required information in due time. I would definitely recommend Merry Kidz Day Nursery to anyone considering a Nursery in the area. We will really miss you all.
