Miyabi Yochien is a nursery in London that values strong partnerships with parents to foster a child's holistic development. They keep parents informed through various channels, including a monthly learning diary that details each child's progress across seven key learning areas, highlighting newly acquired skills and plans for further learning.
Parents are encouraged to contribute their observations from home to ensure tailored teaching. Termly parent-teacher meetings offer a comprehensive overview of a child's academic and emotional well-being, with an open-door policy for discussions at any time.
The nursery also features "Sankanbi" or open class experiences, where parents can observe their child in the learning environment. Termly events like an Anniversary Celebration, Sports Day, and Christmas Show allow children to showcase their achievements and invite parents to share in their excitement.
Daily ten-minute end-of-day reviews provide parents with a concise recap of lessons, accomplishments, and upcoming activities. A private daily photo album with 40-50 images keeps families connected to their child's activities, encouraging meaningful conversations at home.
Monthly home observations, through engaging educational activities, help align home and nursery learning. New families are welcomed with a traditional British-style tea party to build community, and parents are invited to participate in story time or share insights from their professions.
Miyabi Family Fun Days are organized each term for both enrolled and prospective families to strengthen relationships and allow children to play together outside the nursery setting.

Inclusion & environment
Children play cooperatively in the mud kitchen in the outdoor area, where they share resources and take on different roles. Children act with care and caution, wearing wellington boots to avoid slipping in muddy areas outdoors.
My son who is not a native Japanese speaker regularly attends the Miyabi holiday club and more recently weekday language lessons. He especially loves the outdoor space which is a large field shared with Twyford sports. The holiday activities are thoughtful and my son has loved learning ninja skills, judo, football and tennis and being entertained by magicians/ puppetry. Very happy here.
Read on GoogleMy niece attended Miyabi Nursery and it was a horrible experience. One child repeatedly targeted her with racist comments, and the nursery refused to deal with his behaviour properly. Instead of protecting her and addressing it seriously, they brushed it off. No parent should have to watch their child go through that, and I would never recommend this nursery to anyone.
Read on GoogleDreadful at the thought of a kid currently attending this nursery using racial words, making a class mate unwelcomed. Where is the values you hold Miyabi Nursery when it comes to your values " Children learn to appreciate and respect differences, developing empathy, whilst gaining a global perspective"?. Where is the " Empathy and Group Harmony: Omoiyari (思いやり)" when parents voice their concerns yet not being listened to or resolved. I will avoid this nursery at all costs.
Read on GoogleIf you care about your child and their development, I would avoid this nursery. Communication here is extremely poor — concerns are either ignored or dismissed, and parents are left feeling unheard. When issues are raised about children’s behaviour, there seems to be little to no meaningful action taken. Instead of working with families to address challenges, the nursery brushes things aside, which only allows problems to continue. This lack of transparency and accountability is very worrying, and it does not inspire trust or confidence in how they manage children’s wellbeing.
Read on GoogleParents, please be warned. My daughter, who is not Japanese, was called racist names by another child and the nursery, they disregarded the comments saying she was just “different.” For a 3-year-old to hear that is horrible and damaging, yet the nursery did nothing beyond one email. They refused to take it seriously, showed no care, and offered no real support. I would not recommend this nursery to any parent. As parents we work hard to teach our children that this behaviour is not okay, but they will come here and learn it from the odd child who already hold these values. Zero stars. The headteacher needs to address this and stamp it out! I am not the first and at this rate will not be the last parent to experience this.
