Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Leaders work closely with other professionals to ensure that the support for children with special education needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is superb. The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) works closely with other professionals to ensure the needs of children with SEND are fully met, and training is organised to ensure the whole staff team can manage unique needs, resulting in children with SEND making rapid progress.

Outdoor space

Leaders foster a love for the outdoors through inspirational camping days, during which children spend their entire day outdoors, and high-quality forest-school sessions. Pre-school children demonstrate remarkable independence as they get ready for forest school, and children happily explore outside and develop into resilient and curious learners.

Our daughter has absolutely loved her time in Babies at Monkey Puzzle for the last 6 months and we are very sad to leave such a fantastic nursery (we are moving away). From the moment you step into Monkey Puzzle you are made to feel welcome. Everyone from the Management team at reception through to the chef have a smile on their face. The team have been so caring, kind and informative. Everyone in Babies knew my daughter very well, you could go and drop off/pick up from the room which meant you felt included in her day and whoever was available would happily chat to me about her day at pick up. This nursery was exactly what we were looking for, but didn’t think we could achieve living in London. It feels like a small town nursery with a huge emphasis on the outdoors. Babies are taken out on excursions to the park, shops and Costa! They go outside multiple times a day whatever the weather and eat/sleep outside when it suits. It is this level of ingenuity and focus of giving children wonderful experiences which meant Monkey Puzzle overdelivered on all our expectations. Other things we loved. Babies room has a separate dark sleeping room which I believe has helped my daughter settle into a good nap routine at nursery, the range of food is fantastic and they update an app through the day with food, sleep and nappies followed by a post with photos at the end of the day. As I am sure you can tell, I highly recommend Monkey Puzzle after the fantastic experience we have received over the past 6 months! It is a wonderful team with kind, loving, experienced staff.

My son joined monkey puzzle some months ago. We had a bad experience at his previous nursery and we were a bit nervous about it. Since the first visit, our gut feeling told us this was the place we were looking for. It is a truly nurturing environment. At monkey puzzle they really care about the children and it feels like a second family. Since My son joined the nursery he has bloomed and he is so happy. I love how we are kept informed about his day and his developmental milestones. The activities the kids do during the day help their development and stimulate their curiosity. They even eat and, sometimes, take the nap in the garden, visit the neighborhood park and get confident with little pets. The management, the teachers, the whole staff are amazing and caring. My son adores the food there too. He has a special bonding with his key carer and he talks all the time about his friends at the nursery. My second child will join the babies room soon and we are very excited to spend many years ahead with this great team.

I have had 3 children attend (1 still attending) Monkey Puzzle East Finchley over the past 10 years almost since it opened! The nursery continues to improve year on year and we have all always been made to feel like part of a community or family. The manager is so involved and will always comment with such enthusiasm on something my child has learnt or achieved each day. She greets the whole family (including grandparents who collect on an occasion) with as much warmth as she did on day one. There are teachers who have been at the nursery as long as we have and they never fail to impress me with their knowledge and genuine care of my children. They involve us and take our children’s needs, routines and requirements into consideration every step of the way, from settling my children (and me) when they were 5 months old, with patience and understanding to the effort they put in to ensuring every transition, including the big one to reception is a smooth one. The menu is diverse, nutritious and the meals are made every day, on site. If I drop off late I get the delicious smell of lunch cooking. I’ve stayed with my children for lunch on numerous occasions and have enjoyed fresh, healthy and tasty meals with them. The outdoor spaces are amazing and they make excellent use of them, age groups take it in turns to spend the whole day outside, eating and sleeping outdoors in the “base camp” hut, improving their well being all round. All my children have or are having the time of their lives and continue learning, developing and excelling here. Day to day such as Forest school, care home trips, recycling trips, woodworks and children giving out oral health info and toothbrushes in the local community. As well as during the amazing events they hold where the whole family is always invited, like World book day, coronation party, graduation, mothers/fathers/grandparents days, ducklings hatching, cultural festivals and festive parties the list goes on! The older ones are still excited when they join me for drop off or pick up, all the managers and teachers know their names and treat them as if they still attend. My children can’t wait to tell everyone about new developments in their lives, I’ll often leave them chatting enthusiastically or helping to feed the nursery gerbil while I get the little one. I have and will always recommended Monkey Puzzle East Finchley,, I have certainly never regretted it. Our whole family will always cherish their time and memories of this special place.

What a fantastic place! We sent both our children here and they've been brilliant! Was a sad day to see the little man finish his final day the other week. Not a bad thing to say about the place. All staff members are great - special mention to Jenny, Aga, Mira and Anastasia. So accommodating & professional. Wouldnt hesitate to recommend anyone to sign up!
