Kidz Kabin Fortismere, located in Muswell Hill, offers a rich learning environment for children aged 18 months to 5 years, emphasising outdoor adventures and nature-led discovery, set close to Coldfall Woods. The nursery features a large garden with climbing structures, a mud kitchen, and planting areas, alongside a dedicated Forest School cabin, fostering creativity and a love for nature.
The nursery is divided into two specialist rooms: the Yellow Room for toddlers aged 2-3 years, focusing on messy play, music, and movement, and the Green Room for preschoolers aged 3-5 years, preparing them for school through phonics, number games, and creative projects, including regular Forest School sessions. Kidz Kabin Fortismere prides itself on its nurturing community with a loyal and low-turnover team, creating a family-like atmosphere where children form deep, trusted relationships.
The daily routine balances play, learning, and routine, inspired by the EYFS framework and tailored to individual interests, providing a wide array of activities from messy play and storytelling to science experiments and outdoor explorations, all designed to make learning meaningful and fun. The nursery also offers specialised music, Spanish, and PE sessions, and provides home-cooked, nutritious meals prepared by an on-site chef.
Our ethos
Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn and develop through play. We aim to support each child's individual growth by promoting self-confidence, independence, and social skills while ensuring they are well-prepared for their future education. We are committed to offering high-quality care, promoting healthy lifestyles, and fostering a community of kindness, tolerance, and equal opportunities for all children.
What it's like
Children separate happily from parents, and handover information is quickly shared. Staff welcome children in before supporting them to change from outdoor shoes into indoor warm slippers. Children are given time to settle, and staff commentate on what children are doing, helping children understand what is expected and preparing them for the next stage in learning.
Fees are structured around age-banded rooms, with different rates for under 2s, 2-3 years, and 3-5 years. Government-funded places incur additional daily charges for meals and weekly charges for activities depending on the room and session, while funding for under 2s is currently fully covered without extra charges.

A wonderful nursery! My children attended Kidz Kabin at Fortismere from around 18 months until starting school at 4. The staff are wonderful, kind people who all genuinely care about the kids - and the kids adore them. There has been very little staff turnover since we've been there. The food is good quality. The kids often get taken to the beautiful woods across the road, and to local playgrounds or other activities like the local care home. They do weekly PE lessons which they love, and a lot of music. They've been supported to build lovely friendships and gain independence too. Management are kind and understanding. We've just had a really positive experience and I'm happy to publicly share it :)
Read on GoogleWe absolutely love Kidz Kabin Nursery, where both our children have thrived. Our son had a fantastic time and was wonderfully prepared for reception, and our daughter continues to enjoy her days there. The staff are incredibly caring and loving, making it a warm and nurturing environment. We also truly appreciate how much time the children spend playing and learning outdoors. Highly recommend!
Read on GoogleI can’t speak highly enough of the nursery and their lovely staff. We will soon enrol our fourth child with Kidz Kabin Fortismere! The setting is colourful and inviting, with rooms full of thoughtful displays that support the children’s learning. The garden has lots of fun equipment and is shaded by trees, and the children spend plenty of time outside and in the local woods. Staff are creative and caring, there is always something entertaining going on for the little ones, like Rock Star day which our son loved! We always get helpful feedback about our child’s day, in person and on the online learning portal. Our children have been so happy here, making friends and wonderful relationships with staff. Thank you all!
Read on GoogleIncredible nursery with really nurturing and kind staff. My youngest runs in every morning and refuses to leave at pick up. My youngest who is about to graduate from Green room has truly thrived in this school - there is a large focus on being outdoors, with trips to the woods and various outings to local places and an old peoples' home. He has made the best of friends, has built so much confidence and developed so much through imaginative and physical play. It has exceeded my expectations and helped my youngest son grow into an independent, happy, socially confident and school ready little boy.
