Moor Lane Church Pre-School, situated in a peaceful residential area of Cranham at the far end of Moor Lane, has been a cornerstone of early childhood education within Moor Lane Church for over three decades. The pre-school caters to children aged two and a half to four years, providing a nurturing and supportive atmosphere where young learners can develop confidence and happiness in their educational journey.
The facility boasts a spacious hall for active play, a cozier room dedicated to quieter pursuits like storytelling, and a private, secluded outdoor play area that is utilised daily. The team comprises fully qualified educators dedicated to fostering a happy and safe learning environment through play.
They collaborate with parents, valuing their insights to support each child's development. The pre-school monitors and reviews children's progress, implementing engaging activities to ensure continuous learning and addresses individual needs to overcome any obstacles to learning.
The staff are experienced in supporting children with a diverse range of additional needs, including autism, dwarfism, Down's syndrome, behavioral issues, speech and language delays, physical disabilities, and hearing impairment requiring Makaton. They ensure all children can participate in activities and work closely with parents and external agencies like inclusion services, occupational therapists, speech and language services, behaviour support, child psychologists, and area SENDCos.
The setting prioritises early identification and intervention for special educational needs, categorising provision into communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social, mental and emotional health, and sensory/physical needs. A Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and the child's key person oversee this process.
Moor Lane Church Pre-School embraces children from all cultural, faith, and socio-economic backgrounds and actively promotes fundamental values such as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect. In 2017, the building underwent renovations to become wheelchair accessible.

Inclusion & environment
The pre-school team has good relationships with agencies that offer support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and seeks their advice promptly when required. They integrate effective strategies for children with SEND into staff's practice. Staff quickly recognise when children have additional needs and offer effective and timely support. Parents are happy with the progress their children make.
Children explore some ice in the garden, and staff freeze in the water to extend the children's learning further. The children delight as they smash the ice, and the staff show children how the ice turns into water as it melts.
