Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

The support in place for children with SEND and those receiving additional funding is good. Parents and carers report that staff go above and beyond to support them and their children. The owner and management team work closely with other professionals and swiftly put plans in place to ensure that children and their families have the help that they need.

Outdoor space

Staff place a high priority on encouraging children of all ages to develop their physical skills, both indoors and outdoors. Outdoors, there is ample room to run around and climb, along with places to dig and explore.

EAL / language support

Since the COVID-19 pandemic and with a high number of children who speak English as an additional language, staff have placed a focus on developing speech and language skills. Staff in the baby room repeat and emphasise single words, while staff working with toddlers use a running commentary when playing alongside children, and pre-school staff ask valuable questions.

Apologies if this review is long winded but: we simply want to give an honest review that reflects our experiences and one that gives Rachel and her team the justice and recognition they so rightly deserve! Our son has attended Munchkins Kindergarten since September 2019 in a full time placement. The staff are always so very friendly and warm towards the children and parents. We continue to not have any concerns at all, just genuine peace of mind with the knowledge that our son thrives there and that they have staff that are always friendly, understanding and hands on. That he is safe and taken care of. In fact, recently, as our son continues to develop, he has such a good time that we sometimes have tears as he wants to stay and play some more with his friends and teachers before coming home. The meals are fab! In fact our son eats better than we do. Nutritious, wholesome with a nod to tradition. They mix it up a bit and should your little one have a bit of an appetite (growth spurt) they will offer a little more without any issues whatsoever. Since day one of attending we could tell that our son was thriving. He continues to beam and its this that confirms to us that we made the right decision in placing him in the care of Munchkins Kindergarten. The activities that the children take part in are just fantastic ideas that are easy to replicate at home without being costly. They really are just great ideas that are fun, educational and hands on. In fact, this mornings activity compelled me to sit and write this review as I've been meaning to do this for a while now. At the beginning and during the Covid breakout we have again been so impressed by the communication put out to the parents keeping us up to date with the latest news and requirements, encouraging activities at home and keenly wanting to see/hear all about what the children have been doing. Munchkins Kindergarten has not only been a lifeline for us, as we have no support network at all, but, has continued to provide support and encouragement to our son when needed, and employs staff that clearly love what they do. In our opinion we cannot rate them high enough. They're very accommodating, understanding, have lots of knowledge and especially during the current pandemic they have proven to have really decent morals and values which in this day and age really can be quite difficult to find at times. This review has been a long time coming but hopefully gives the nursery the recognition that it truly deserves and to give other parents searching for the 'right' nursery to give Munchkins Kindergarten a go. Lastly, I would like to say that we do not know anyone at the nursery on a personal level and therefore this review is completely unbiased, which should hopefully be enough to give that much needed peace of mind to anyone considering using/finding a good reputable nursery setting. We wish Munchkins Kindergarten continued success in all that the future brings.
