About this day nursery

Newbold Children's Centre Nursery, registered in 2006 and located in Rochdale, is a welcoming and inclusive early years setting. The nursery operates Monday to Friday, term time only, from 8am until 6pm, offering government-funded places for childcare.

The dedicated team consists of nine childcare staff, with eight holding a Level 3 or above early years qualification. Staff demonstrate a good understanding of children's cultural backgrounds, which they effectively use in their interactions and play, such as pretending to eat familiar foods from children's homes.

They go to great lengths to communicate with all children and families, including those who speak English as an additional language, by learning key words and using translator devices. This commitment ensures all children feel valued, included, and make good progress.

The setting provides a curriculum that is well-understood and implemented by staff who recognise children's interests and individual learning styles, and children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported through accurate assessments, targeted learning plans, and adapted teaching methods.

Actions the provider must take

  • The provider has failed to notify Ofsted of the appointment of all directors that form part of the nursery's governing body. The provider took immediate action to rectify this when made aware of this. They were able to demonstrate that suitability checks had been completed, including obtaining enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks. This minimises the impact on children's safety.

It's a good place, but we wish there were security cameras so parents could feel more at ease, and also so that if something happens, they won't be constantly worried.
