About this day nursery

Nutley Preschool, known as Little Deers, has been an integral part of the Nutley village community for over 40 years, providing a stimulating and nurturing environment for young children. Located within the Nutley War Memorial Hall, the preschool benefits from its central village position and easy access to the scenic Ashdown Forest, which is regularly utilised for enriching outdoor activities such as nature walks and exploration.

The programme is designed to foster child-led learning and prepare children aged 2-5 for their transition to primary school, with a particular focus on those who will attend Nutley Church of England Primary School due to their close partnership. Little Deers operates during term time, offering flexible session lengths to accommodate various family needs.

Children engage in a diverse range of activities aligned with Early Years Foundation Stage principles, supported by dedicated staff. The preschool prides itself on its strong community ties, with many former attendees now bringing their own children, and welcomes parental involvement through its committee and fundraising efforts.

Nutley preschool we have found as parents as a great setting for our daughter. She went from the age of two and thrived straight away. The staff are kind and considerate. They all have their own strengths in bring out the best experience for the kids. Forest walks, exciting trips around the community, so many adventures outside the preschool and also inside. Having their own large garden is a massive plus. As a tidy away at the end of the day setting due to be being in the village hall means that kids not even learn how to help their friends but also the staff to tidy away and take responsibility for toys that are played with.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this preschool to other families.
