About this day nursery

Nutwood Day Nursery, rated 'Good' by Ofsted, offers childcare for children aged 0-4 years. Open all year, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm, excluding bank holidays and one week over Christmas and New Year, it provides consistent support for families.

Established in 2014, the nursery focuses on a curriculum designed to foster independence and prepare children for future success. This is evident in activities such as encouraging one-year-olds to put on their own shoes and older children managing their clothing.

Children at Nutwood Day Nursery enjoy positive relationships with staff and peers, showing kindness and a willingness to help, whether it's tidying up toys or sharing at mealtimes. The setting prioritises physical activity, with three and four-year-olds engaging in outdoor play, such as digging in the garden, which helps develop their strength.

The nursery is proactive in its Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision; the manager and staff collaborate with parents to identify and promptly address additional support needs. They create targeted plans, using tools like picture schedules to help children understand routine changes and promote emotional well-being.

SEND provision

The manager and staff work with parents to recognise when children need additional support and act promptly. Children benefit from targeted plans that focus on helping them to progress in their development. For example, staff show children pictures of what will happen next to promote their emotional needs and to help them understand when there is a change in the routine of the day.

Outdoor space

Children are physically active. Three- and four-year-old children develop strength in their bodies when they use spades safely to help staff to dig soil in the garden. Nutwood day nursery is truly the best, I have visited a few other settings and nothing compares to Nutwood, I'm so happy I chose this one for my child, hes been going since he was 6 months and it will be a sad day when we have to say good bye. The setting is like a family, the staff there all are very caring, dedicated and all go above and beyond for the children. They have didn't activities everyday and care for all the childrens different needs. They even put on trips outside of the nursery. The Manager there is truly a credit to the team. I would recommend this nursery 10 times over.

Our son started at nutwood in September, at 16 months old it has been our first experience of a nursery. The staff were amazing at getting to know him and us and making us all feel welcome and heard. Within a few weeks our little guy was loving life, he asks daily to go see the different members of staff there and comes home happy as anything. Thank you everyone at nutwood for making us all feel so much a part of the family!

I can’t speak highly enough of Nutwood Day Nursery! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, friendly staff who made us feel instantly comfortable. The environment is clean, safe, and thoughtfully designed, creating a nurturing space for children to learn and play. The staff is not only caring but also very attentive to each child’s individual needs, making sure every child feels valued and supported. My little one has thrived in their care, and it’s clear they genuinely care about fostering development in a fun, educational way. My LG has been at Nutwood since 4 months old she is now in her final room in preschool. Throughout out her years it’s been very clear about the love, dedication and support that the staff show to the nursery and each child. Each event, special time or family situation is celebrated with activities and love. There have been so many opportunities my LO has experienced at this nursery from all the animals (guinea pigs, rabbits, budgies, frogs, fish, chicks and a lamb!) to the activities created to explore further learning and a combination of different play styles. I highly recommend this nursery to anyone who wants childcare to support their child growing up
