About this day nursery

Oakengates Nursery School, located in Telford, is part of a federation that also includes Wrockwardine Wood Infant School. The day nursery caters to children aged 0-4 years, operating both as a Local Authority Maintained Nursery School for 2-4 year olds and an Ofsted-registered Day Care facility for 0-4 year olds.

Their core philosophy, encapsulated by the motto "Love, Laugh, Learn," focuses on creating a joyful, meaningful, and play-rooted learning environment. The school aims to foster a strong sense of belonging, supporting children's emotional well-being and working closely with families.

They believe that happy, confident, and connected children are best positioned to thrive, and their high-quality early years practice, responsive adult interactions, and carefully planned curriculum are designed to support holistic development. The experienced and caring staff are dedicated to understanding each child individually, nurturing curiosity, promoting independence, and celebrating every milestone.

The day nursery offers various provisions including a Baby Room (0-2 years), Toddler Room (2-3 years), and Pre-School (3-4 years), alongside wraparound care, breakfast, lunch, after-school, and holiday clubs. They actively welcome new families to visit the nursery and encourage pre-registration and application processes for enrolment.

Our ethos

At the heart of everything we do is our school motto: Love, Laugh, Learn. We believe that children achieve best when learning is joyful, meaningful and rooted in play. Helping children to feel that they truly belong is central to our work, and through high-quality early years practice, responsive adult interactions and a carefully planned curriculum, we support children's social, emotional, physical and intellectual development, enabling them to flourish at their own pace.

What it's like

Children arrive with confidence and settle quickly because they are welcomed into an environment where warm, trusting relationships and nurturing care are embedded from the outset. Home visits, carefully planned transitions and ongoing partnerships ensure that children and their families are known as individuals before they start. Children eagerly immerse themselves in play that intentionally reflects their interests, ideas and stages of development, exploring rich sensory experiences across both the indoor and outdoor environments. Babies confidently experiment with sounds, babbles, gestures and first words. Their learning, care and key person relationships are purposefully planned around what is already known about them, enabling them to settle quickly, feel secure and make substantial progress from their individual starting points.
