Once Upon a Time Day Nurseries, located in Yeading, Hillingdon, provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for children aged one to four years, operating all year round from 7:45 am to 6 pm. Registered in 2005, the nursery prides itself on its dedicated team of 19 staff, including a manager with early years professional status and 12 staff holding level 3 qualifications, fostering strong relationships with children and their families.
The nursery places a strong emphasis on outdoor play, recognising its importance for children and offering a variety of activities and resources to encourage imaginative play and physical development. Staff are attentive to children's language development, consistently modelling and expanding their vocabulary.
The curriculum is based on the HighScope approach, helping children develop a positive attitude to learning and supporting their overall well-being. Parents consistently praise the setting for the good progress their children make, particularly in language and social skills, and value the detailed feedback they receive on their children's learning experiences.
This nurturing environment ensures children are happy, engaged, and developing well.

Inclusion & environment
The regular monitoring of children's progress enables staff to quickly identify any children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Targeted interventions are then devised and referrals made, if necessary, to help children to catch up with their peers.
Outside play is a prominent part of the daily routine for all children. This is because staff understand that some children do not have access to an outside play area in their home life. Staff enable children to access a wide range of activities and resources during outdoor play, which enable children to thrive. For example, children play imaginatively and show an awareness of space as they manoeuvre around objects when riding bikes.
My son who is now 9 attended Once Upon a Time and now my daughter who is one does. 8 years difference between the two and they have the same key worker - a wholesome full circle moment that speaks a thousand words of the kind of staff once upon a time have. The staff who always greet me with a smile, positive attitude and are able to deal with any query in a prompt and efficient manner. My daughter’s day is always logged on the app, with progress photos, developments reports and the cutest pictures. Which makes going back to work after Maternity that much easier. I cannot recommend them enough, I trust them with my most prized possessions - Literally. — Bianca Clarke
