Pembroke Park Nursery in Crawley, West Sussex, was established in 2016 and provides childcare for children aged 2 to 4 years. The nursery operates Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, offering a consistent routine for families.
Leaders at the nursery are adept at identifying and supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), working closely with external agencies and the local authority to ensure comprehensive support. They actively engage with parents to understand individual needs and have even updated the leadership of their SEND provision to enhance effectiveness.
For children learning English as an additional language (EAL), staff welcome families to share their traditions and celebrations, fostering an inclusive environment where religious festivals are celebrated. While children enjoy engaging in various activities such as play dough and outdoor exploration, the nursery is currently focusing on improving mealtime supervision and refining its curriculum to better support children's learning and development.
Our ethos
At Pembroke Park Nursery, we aim to offer young children the best possible care and education in a safe and nurturing environment. We believe that every child has unique potential, and our aim is to create a positive, stimulating, and supportive setting to help them thrive and reach their full potential. Our curriculum prioritises physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development through play and hands-on experiences.
What it's like
Although there are always staff present when children are eating, leaders do not ensure staff are deployed effectively so that they can observe all children throughout mealtimes. This means staff may not notice quickly enough if a child begins to choke. Leaders do not ensure that the curriculum is designed effectively enough to teach children the fundamental skills required for future learning, and not all staff understand what they want children to learn and how to teach it successfully. Children arrive happily and engage in play before coming together for group time, enjoy dancing to music.

Inclusion & environment
Leaders understand how to assess children's needs and accurately identify when children might need additional support. They seek advice from other agencies and the local authority and work collaboratively with other professionals to fully support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They access funding to ensure eligible children receive their full entitlement and barriers to learning are reduced.
Outside, children play well together, enjoying exploring the sand and sharing resources independently. Children wait happily for their turn. Any minor conflicts are dealt with promptly by staff. Children practise their balancing skills and coordination as they persevere using balancing stilts.
Staff understand children well, including those who are learning English as an additional language. They recognise what is important to the children and their families, who are welcomed into the setting to speak about their traditions and celebrations. Leaders ensures that children learn about all religious festivals.
Personally, for my children this kindergarten is perfect!! 4 years ago my first son went and now the second one goes too!! The staff is very welcoming, caring, communicative! My son goes every day from Monday to Friday and he never gets tired of asking me if he goes on weekends!!!

Read on GoogleFantastic nursery! I was so nervous when my little girl first started as all parents are when their child first starts but she settled in so well with them, all the staff are super lovely and my daughter loves going there every week. They always inform you on how your child is getting on, what they’ve eaten etc, and my little girl has developed so well and always coming home with little things she’s made there. They care so much for the kids and it shows.
