Two of my children have been here and they’ve both been very happy and settled so quickly! The staff are brilliant- Maddie and Jess in particular always have such big smiles and warm personalities! My daughter who’s still currently there enjoys the huge variety of activities they have to offer. The kids have cooked warm meals every day and there’s always a decent variety. I’d recommend this nursery to anyone. Also, almost forgot to mention they’re very flexible! You can choose the hours that suit you!

After three years with Pepper Royd Day Nursery, I feel nothing but neglect, appalled, and deeply disappointed by the level of care provided. This is not a case of a minor incident or a one-off complaint. I gave this nursery five separate chances to address serious concerns, escalating matters repeatedly to both managers, then to the owners, and ultimately to Ofsted. Despite this, there was no meaningful improvement. One of the most alarming incidents was when my daughter had scissors near her eye and ended up cutting her own fringe. She quite literally could have stabbed her own eye. Even after something this serious, I still gave the nursery four further chances to rectify their failings — that alone shows how patient and reasonable I tried to be. Each time I raised concerns, I was met with the same response: that they would “keep her supervised.” This is not reassurance — it is the most basic expectation in any childcare setting. The fact that this needed repeating highlights a fundamental failure in safeguarding. Hygiene standards were also extremely poor. Children were frequently left with runny noses and visibly unwell throughout the day, with little care or attention given until collection. It reflects a wider issue of neglect and lack of basic care. Communication was equally unacceptable. I was left in a difficult position trying to balance work and childcare while the nursery stopped answering calls and messages altogether. There was no accountability, no professionalism, and no consideration for the impact this has on working parents. There also appeared to be a serious lack of supervision across the setting — particularly concerning was the fact that children were allowed to go to the toilet unsupervised, regardless of gender. This is a clear and serious safeguarding failure. Looking back, I wonder how much may have gone unnoticed when my daughter was not verbally strong enough to communicate her experiences. That is a deeply worrying thought for any parent. Despite escalating concerns at every level — staff, management, ownership, and Ofsted — there was a consistent failure to take responsibility or implement meaningful change. The overall management and ownership have demonstrated a complete lack of urgency when it comes to children's safety and wellbeing. Given my experience and the seriousness of these ongoing safeguarding concerns, I cannot recommend this nursery to any parent. I have withdrawn my daughter and also my son (who was meant to start in 2026). What I have witnessed reflects repeated negligence, poor standards, and a complete breakdown of trust. Absolutely disgusting place.
