Phoenix Pre-School, established in 1981, operates from a purpose-built setting in Havant, offering childcare for children aged 2 to 4 years. Open term-time from 8am to 3pm, the pre-school provides a warm and welcoming environment where children are greeted warmly by staff, helping them to settle happily.
The latest Ofsted inspection, dated 19 November 2024, rated the pre-school as 'Good' in overall effectiveness. Leaders and staff have high expectations, striving to provide strong foundations for life-long learning.
The curriculum is broad and prioritises children's learning, with a particular focus on developing communication skills. For children who may start behind in certain areas, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), staff quickly identify and implement additional support, often involving other professionals to ensure they catch up.
This focused approach includes outdoor learning experiences alongside indoor activities, with inspectors observing the quality of education being provided in both environments and assessing its impact on children's development. Children are encouraged to be highly independent, taking pride in age-appropriate self-help tasks, which prepares them for school transitions.
