About this day nursery

Pippins Preschool, situated in West Malling, offers a nurturing and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to actively engage with their surroundings and develop a profound understanding of the world. The preschool values hands-on learning, allowing children to make choices, move freely, explore new experiences, and foster independence.

Qualified and experienced practitioners, along with a dedicated team of assistants, guide the children in a safe setting, providing both small group and individual attention. Each child is assigned a Key Person to support their individual development.

Pippins boasts a spacious outdoor area where children can cycle, play games, tend to a vegetable patch, and engage in creative play in the mud kitchen. Outdoor play is prioritised regardless of weather conditions, recognising its importance for a child’s health, development, and well-being.

The preschool limits its session capacity to 20 children, ensuring a focused environment that caters to individual needs and helps children reach their full potential. Pippins also emphasises the importance of parents' involvement through "Stay and Play" sessions.

The curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with learning developing through child-initiated interests balanced with adult-led activities. The preschool also offers the Early Talk Boost Programme to support children with delayed language skills.

Our ethos

Pippins Preschool's philosophy is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, emphasising a balance between child-initiated interests and adult-led activities. They value hands-on learning, independence, and exploration, encouraging children to make choices and engage with their environment through play, including a strong focus on outdoor experiences in all weather. The preschool also provides individual support through Key Persons and offers targeted programmes like Early Talk Boost.

We absolutely love Pippins! Our daughter has been going to Pippins for the last 1.5 years and she has flourished under their care. She has so much fun every day and bounds into school to be with her friends. The teaching staff are amazing and I feel our daughter is now so much more ready for school come September. Thank you Pippins! You have made our daughter’s first experience of a teaching environment so great!

My son has been going to Pippins since October 2022, and is loving it! The staff are so lovely, and have really supported my son in settling in and to help build his confidence. The setting is brilliant, with lots of opportunities for outdoor play. The resources are engaging and enjoyable for the children, my son loves the mud kitchen. Can’t recommend Pippins enough!

The best decision we have ever made for both our children has been enrolling them into Pippins Preschool. You do not just join a preschool here, you join a family! A family who care for the children like they are their own. Having two children who have had speech delays, Nicola and her team have worked tirelessly to help and support us and the children with guidance, knowledge and love! We can’t thank the Pippins team enough for everything they have done for us and continue to do for all the little Pippins under their care. We wouldn’t consider anywhere else for our children’s first years in education!
