Wem Playmates Nursery, a committee-run organisation with parent involvement, offers a nurturing environment for children from 3 months to school entry. The nursery uses the online learning journal 'Tapestry' to track children's progress and foster strong partnerships between parents and staff, with parents encouraged to contribute to their child's journal.

They follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, focusing on prime areas like Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development in the younger rooms, and introducing Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design in the older rooms. Children in the Lion's Den also have the opportunity to participate in weekly swimming lessons at Wem Swimming Pool.
Healthy eating is a priority, with nutritious snacks and cooked lunches provided daily, accommodating special dietary requirements. The nursery also provides a safe outdoor play area designed to promote development and exploration.

Inclusion & environment
Children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), are encouraged to persevere and have a go if attempting something new.
