About this day nursery

Playsteps Nursery, established in 2006, offers comprehensive day care and early education for children aged 0 to 5 across two conveniently located nurseries in Swindon: Kembrey Park and Church Place. The nurseries aim to be a "home from home," fostering a nurturing and educational environment where children are encouraged to explore, learn, and grow through play.

Both locations are open 51 weeks a year, closing only for a week at Christmas and on Bank Holidays, and provide both full-time and part-time childcare options. Playsteps is dedicated to supporting each child's unique developmental journey, cultivating curiosity, and building a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

The experienced team provides a range of stimulating activities, including arts and crafts and outdoor exploration through its "Playsteps Explorers" forest school programme. The Kembrey Park branch, being the newer facility, expands the capacity to serve more families in the Swindon area, while the original Church Place nursery, housed in a specially adapted listed building, boasts a dedicated outdoor area for Forest School activities.

Playsteps also provides details on government funding options to assist parents with childcare costs.

My son has been attending Playsteps Kembrey since we relocated to Swindon in 2021. They are a lovely group of people with hearts of gold, they are hard working and provide very high quality care for my son. They have brought my little one on so much, he’s so comfortable and well looked after. They are always engaging in activity whilst supporting and encouraging. The staff are also incredible with working with myself and my partner and I would assume many other parents and keeping us updated at every step of their journey. I couldn’t ask for a more accommodating and honest nursery for him. If you’re contemplating nurseries, I would 1000% wholeheartedly recommend looking into Playsteps, you will not regret it.

My daughter is at Oops a Daisy and she absolutely loves it here. She has been attending since June this year and since that time I have noticed a big difference in her development. She is learning lots and I can see in her speech and intelligence that she is learning so much. The staff are brilliant with the children, they do lots of different activities each day and it seems not 1 day is the same which is great. They play both indoors and outdoors, and the facilities that are provided are of a very high standard. Also visits externally within Swindon area (with parent's consent), they take the children out of the mini bus which is nice. The cleanliness is outstanding when I viewed the nursery (unannounced) and the building smells fresh, everything is clean and tidy and what I liked is that the children take their shoes off when they go indoors to ensure the carpets remain clean when children are playing on the floor, which I think is great idea as I viewed other nurseries where the carpets were filthy. All of the toys are new and of a great standard. You have a book for your child to give you details of what they did that day. You also get photos of your child (with your consent) which is a really nice thing to do so you can see what your child does whilst your at work! The sleeping room is lovely, there are soothing lights for the children and there are several different beds for the children to choose from to go to sleep on, all of a excellent standard of cleanliness. Debbie the owner of Oops a Daisy is lovely she can't help you out enough and you can see from her approach that she loves children and it isn't just a business, it is her passion to provide an excellent nursery for children. Debbie will always help you out when she can and be flexible (within reason). All of the staff that work with Debbie are lovely and they are brilliant with all of the children. It is like a family environment and very friendly, it's lovely. Overall this is the best nursery I have ever seen and the overall experience that is provided for my daughter and I am more than happy with this. I can go to work and know that my daughter is within a safe, secure & excellent environment!

I have always worked compassionately with the children in my care and I have worked very hard to build a very good childcare team, whom I am finally 100% happy with. My setting is a very good setting and as the person who writes all the policies and procedures and ensures my team follow them to a high standard, We also have CCTV in the nursery and garden to ensure 100% safety for the children. I have had customers who have registered all of their children with me and most of my business has been ran on local people recommending Oops-a-Daisy. However, I can't please everyone, and for that I am sorry. I have never had a complaint from this person (any complaints are available for parents at any time), as I obliged to do as part of the statutory guidance. Finally two years ago, there was one ex-employee and one parent who seemed to have a personal vendetta against myself (Deborah Baigent), the comments were hurtful and untrue that were put on social media and these were removed once the police had to be involved. I love owning a nursery and I am a very warm and kind person, who would rather spend time with my team as a manager and being with the children than doing the accounts!!

This place is absolutely hideous, all smiles on the outside. My child has had multiple accidents in here and never given an explanation just asked to sign the medical form. Also had big problems with owner over payments, basic maths is not her forte. When your child screams when going into a nursery you know something is wrong !!
