Portico at Moss Bank is located within Moss Bank Children's Centre in St Helens and provides care for children aged from birth to four years. The day nursery is open from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, all year round, closing for bank holidays. It supports children with transitions to Carr Mill Primary School and other schools in the area. Disabled access is available through the Children's Centre's main entrance.
In October 2022, Ofsted inspected the day nursery and judged it to be 'Outstanding'. The inspector noted that staff use assessment effectively and have a clear understanding of what they want children to learn. The report mentioned that children behave well, showing kindness and independence. Outdoor play was highlighted, with children using a wooded area to develop their imagination and physical skills. The inspector recorded that parents were full of praise for the staff and felt well informed about their child's progress.
