Putnoe Woods Preschool, registered in 2014 and managed by a board of trustees, offers childcare on non-domestic premises at Bedford Athletic Rugby Club in Bedford, MK41 8QA. The setting operates all year round from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, with the exception of five weeks.

Welcoming children from birth to four years old, the preschool has a maximum capacity of 70 children and a roll of 128. They pride themselves on a friendly and stimulating environment where enthusiastic staff engage children in age-appropriate activities supporting their interests and development.

Children show high levels of confidence, forming strong bonds with staff and interacting well with visitors. The preschool successfully supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, working closely with families and professionals to ensure tailored learning opportunities.

The dedicated team of 24 staff members, 17 of whom hold level 3 or above childcare qualifications, ensures a nurturing atmosphere where all children make good progress from their individual starting points. The preschool accepts funded early education for two-, three-, and four-year-old children.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported in the pre-school. Staff work closely with carers and other professionals to gather a deep understanding of children's needs. They carefully plan an environment that provides appropriate learning opportunities and supports children's well-being. This supports all children to make good progress from their starting points.

Outdoor space

Toddlers are encouraged to discuss possible hazards in the garden area. They visit local woods and explore the various creatures that live there. Toddlers encourage visitors to join in their outdoor tea party.

The team at Putnoe Woods Preschool are so lovely and helpful. They do an amazing job of looking after the kids and care for each one as an individual. So grateful for the care and attention given to my child each time he’s there.
