Rawlins Under 5's Playgroup, located in the grounds of St Bartholomews Primary School in Quorn, Loughborough, offers a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 2 to 4 years. Registered in 2007, the playgroup provides funded early education for two-, three-, and four-year-old children from Monday to Friday during term time, with sessions running from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

The dedicated team of 10 childcare staff, including one with a Level 6 qualification, two with Level 5, and five with Level 3, are committed to fostering a love for learning. Children benefit from mindfulness sessions to help them regulate their feelings and emotions, and they are encouraged to develop their literacy skills through engaging reading areas and storytelling.

Creative expression is a cornerstone of the playgroup's approach, with children freely exploring craft activities and imaginative role-play scenarios, such as running a lollipop stall. The outdoor space is well-utilised, providing ample opportunities for children to develop physical skills and connect with nature, even digging for worms.

The playgroup prioritises strong partnerships with parents and offers excellent support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, working closely with other agencies to implement tailored learning plans.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities is excellent. Staff work closely with other agencies involved with the children to design and implement targeted learning plans. These are regularly reviewed and support children's next steps well. The setting's special educational needs coordinator fully supports parents when making referrals to other professionals and applying for additional funding.

Outdoor space

Children benefit from lots of opportunities to be active and develop their physical skills outside. They learn to handle tools with confidence; they use their arm muscles when using spades to dig the ground, looking for worms.

Brilliant Playgroup, both my children have been to this playgroup and they both really enjoyed their time there! Lots of activities and great helpful staff.
