Inclusion & environment
Staff understand children's individual needs and have the skillset to adapt behaviour expectations accordingly, which has a positive impact on children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Leaders collaborate closely with a range of professionals, such as speech and language therapists and social workers.
Children benefit from outdoor experiences, particularly water play, where staff hold meaningful conversations that extend children's language. Leaders have identified that children would benefit from a more stimulating outdoor curriculum and are making ongoing changes to provide increased opportunities for physical challenge and gross motor development.
Staff narrate play and introduce new words, showing understanding of children's individual needs and adapting expectations accordingly, which includes supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
First impressions were really good, especially the walk around. The staff who look after the kids were also professional. Location is great to an extent, although if it’s busy, there may not always be somewhere local to park your car. Lovely spacious rooms. From memory, I think it was all artificial grass in the gardens. Not a huge thing I guess for many people, but real grass beats artificial in a lot of weather conditions. Main reason it’s a 3 is due to lack of communication.. Almost every nursery is oversubscribed, but you’d think communication with current and new parents would be a priority. It’s been over 3 months since I’ve checked and their website is still not up and running. Emailed for some further info, however to date it’s been over 8 weeks and I still haven’t had a reply.. The information given over the phone is different to when you visit them face-to-face. Decided to stick with my older kids’ nursery for the new baby as they answer non-urgent queries on the same day even by email. Yes, they may charge £10 extra per day; but at least I know my questions are answered and all the information is updated on their website. We’re all busy (even working parents), so I find it vital that if I had a question, I would be able to find it on their website or at least by email within a timely manner. Even as parents we don’t always find time to phone, especially if it’s not urgent. It has lots of good things, but I think communication really needs an oomph - the reason I decided not to go with them & actually leave a review. It’s a real shame, as most parents are trying to secure a place for their child more than a year in advance (which is very stressful in itself) & being made to feel not so important is kind of embarrassing in front of other parents and staff. Just lack of communication even amongst staff - as staff on the phone give you different advice and more senior staff at the door give contradicting advice. Real turn-off.
