Redwood House Children’s Nursery, registered in 2011, is a well-established childcare setting in Wigan (WN5 8HJ) that provides full day care for children aged 0 to 4. Led by a passionate leadership team, the nursery prides itself on its broad curriculum, which places a strong emphasis on children's personal, social, and emotional development.
The dedicated team of 27 childcare staff, with 24 holding at least level 3 qualifications, ensures that all 151 children on roll, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those receiving funded childcare, make good progress from their unique starting points. The nursery operates from Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 6 PM, for 51 weeks of the year, offering a consistent and supportive environment.
Recognising the importance of strong relationships, staff actively engage with parents through daily chats and written assessments to support each child's continuous development. The nursery has robust systems in place to support vulnerable children and has successfully used funding to provide targeted learning sessions for children needing extra support, particularly in language and communication skills.
They also focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle, offering freshly prepared meals and encouraging good hygiene practices like teeth brushing.

Inclusion & environment
The leadership team has high expectations for all children, including children who are in receipt of funding and children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. All children make good progress from their unique starting points. The setting has robust systems to support vulnerable children, including developing close partnerships with all who are involved in children's care and education. The setting has used funding to implement some targeted learning sessions for children who require extra support. This has been particularly successful in supporting children's language and communication skills.
The vast outdoor area is used well and provides ample opportunities for older children to practise their large physical skills. For example, children develop the skills needed to scale climbing apparatus, climb in and out of large tyres and use ride-on cars and bicycles.
10/10 my children love it.
