Rimu Music Day Nursery and Forest School is a unique childcare setting that places music at the core of its educational philosophy. The day nursery believes that early exposure to music profoundly impacts a child's intellectual, spiritual, and emotional development.

Integrating music throughout the daily curriculum, Rimu offers a diverse range of peripatetic classes, including music, singing, ballet, street dance, and gymnastics, all included in the standard fees. Beyond its musical focus, Rimu also provides a full-time Forest School programme, allowing children to engage with nature.

The nursery caters to children aged 3 months to 5 years and operates across three locations in South East London: Lee (King's Church), Blackheath (Sunfields Methodist Church), and Elsie Marshall Memorial Hall.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff know all children and their families very well. They work closely with families and external professionals to get them the help they need. While staff await external input, they create and implement individual plans for children to help close gaps in learning.

Outdoor space

The curriculum has a good focus on developing children's understanding of nature. Children enjoy exploring the garden area and local nature and woodland areas within the local community. Staff support children as they explore insects and plants, looking to find insects in the soil and under logs.

This is a lovely nursery. Small, incredibly caring and it’s easy to see how happy the children are here and how personalised the care is. Unlike other nurseries when I visited where the manager clearly didn’t know most of the children’s names, when I walked in Harri the manager was lifting and playing with one of the children here and all staff know each child very well. Our little one has been in the baby room for 6 months and is thriving. He rushes into nursery in the morning and sometimes runs back in when I pick him up! They recently had a parents evening and I had such a long dedicated report which really aligned with how he is at home, which reassured me that he is comfortable and able to be his true self at nursery. It’s such a relief as a working parent to trust your nursery and watch your child thrive in the environment. The children aren’t stressed, they have new activities all the time and are able to have fun and play all day. The mixed age group sessions are great, the older children are very well behaved and patient with my child which I think is a reflection of their environment and my little one loves saying all of his friends names. Thank you to RIMU Lee for taking such good care of him!

We've had a very positive experience with our two kids attending RIMU Lee. We enjoy the engagement from the staff and to hear about what fun things the kids have done when we pick them up in the evening. I have seen first hand their creative development from the mix of unique activities and sensorial experiences that is done at nursery. Also, they have a showcase twice a year which we always look forward to. The food served is a great. We are assured that it is healthy and there's a variety offered to expose the kids to different cultural foods. The updates on the app are my favourite. I can track what they've had to eat, sleeping times, toileting, and pictures and videos from their learning experiences throughout my day. We highly recommended RIMU. Thank you to the managers and staff!

My daughter loves her nursery! She was a late talker, but since she’s joined RIMU she’s always singing and now will not stop talking! The staff are wonderful. They’re kind and compassionate and very attentive, and my daughter loves them all. The setting is lovely, with lots of activities for the children and a great outdoor space too. I highly recommend RIMU

My one year-old started at Rimu music day nursery Lee site on the 6th of March I found it to be a very welcoming atmosphere friendly and enthusiastic staff, very bright, colourful and well set out Room The introductory paperwork was thorough, and I felt the staff made every effort to get to know my Child through interaction with her and talking to me and my wife. Everything was explained to me about how the staff were going to track my child's progress and about the online learning journal that they use soo me and my wife would receive pictures and videos of our child's day and live updates on her eating and sleeping routine Would highly recommend 🙂
