S4YC Ledsham Park Day Nursery, established in 2024 and located in Ellesmere Port, provides childcare for children aged 0-4 years. The nursery operates Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, offering an all-year service.

Leaders and staff foster a positive and friendly environment where children feel safe and happy, developing a secure sense of belonging and forming attachments with their key person. The curriculum focuses on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), promoting good behaviour and cooperation among children.

The nursery emphasises healthy lifestyles, with children enjoying nutritious snacks and meals while learning about healthy food choices. Children are supported in developing independence in their self-care skills, preparing them for school.

The nursery provides daily access to a garden area for outdoor play and exercise. The team works closely with parents, valuing daily chats, regular meetings, and tailored guidance to support learning at home and children's transitions.

While the nursery provides a good foundation for children's overall development, it is currently working on providing consistent support for babies' purposeful play and younger children's communication and language development, as well as ensuring a consistent approach to learning for those facing barriers. Leaders have strong links with external professionals and the local authority to provide timely help for children with SEND and to support the continuous improvement of the curriculum and teaching practices.

What it's like

Children who face barriers to their learning do not always benefit from a consistent approach to their learning, particularly in how staff adapt their teaching. This leads to inconsistent progress for these children, impacting their readiness for the next stage of learning. Additionally, babies do not consistently engage in purposeful play due to insufficient opportunities or resources. All children feel safe and happy in this friendly nursery and receive support to gain independence in their self-care skills, ready for the move to school. As they move through the setting, children develop their play skills, compassion and friendships, progressing from playing alongside each other to playing with other children.
