About this day nursery

Shaping Futures, established in 2004, is a family-focused nursery in Mansfield that provides a warm and secure environment for children aged 0-2 years, operating all year round from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. The nursery received a 'Good' rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 8th November 2022.

Staff are attentive and know children and their families well, ensuring a feeling of safety and happiness. The curriculum is designed around children's interests, fostering active, curious, and keen learners.

This approach, along with strong support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), helps all children make good progress in their learning. The nursery promotes physical health through nutritious food, regular fresh air, and ample outdoor play, including activities like babies developing core strength on rockers.

For children who speak English as an additional language (EAL), staff create a settled environment by providing texts in their home language and using a range of strategies to support language development, such as repeating words to build vocabulary. However, the report suggests further supporting staff to allow children more thinking time to respond to questions and extend their language skills.

Overall, Shaping Futures provides a nurturing and stimulating setting where children are encouraged to be independent and confident in their abilities.
