South and City College Nursery, located in Hall Green, Birmingham, and registered in 2007, operates within the grounds of South and City College. The nursery provides full-day care for children aged 0 to 4, Monday to Friday during term time.

With a team of 13 childcare staff, all holding level 3 or above qualifications, the nursery ensures children receive good support and make progress in their learning. The staff are dedicated to fostering strong communication and language skills, and they work closely with parents, including those with English as an additional language, by finding out key words from children's home languages.

The nursery also prioritises children’s health with nutritious meals and daily physical activity, while promoting independence and self-care skills. How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities receive good support. Staff work well with parents and other professionals to ensure the individual needs of the children are met and they make good progress.

Outdoor space

Pre-school children enjoy exploring the outdoor environment to develop large-muscle skills. However, staff need to place more focus on ensuring younger children have enough outdoor play and learning opportunities.

EAL / language support

Staff support children who speak English as an additional language by finding out key words from their home languages to communicate effectively with them.
