Sparkles is a day nursery in Carnforth providing care for children aged from birth to ten years. It is open all year. The day nursery was inspected by Ofsted in August 2022 and received an overall judgement of Good. The inspector reported that children arrive happy and are eager to begin their day, independently choosing from a range of interesting activities. Children have good relationships with staff who have high expectations, model new skills, and introduce new vocabulary.
The curriculum covers all areas of learning, with goals for children's independence, confidence, and social and communication skills. Children have good communication skills and staff promote their independence through age-appropriate tasks. According to the Ofsted report, children have plenty of opportunities to play outside each day. The inspector noted that while older children are active and engage in imaginative play, babies have fewer opportunities to extend their learning in the outdoor environment. Parents are kept informed through daily diaries and discussions.

Outdoor space
Children are active and have plenty of opportunities to play outside each day. Older children run around and use ride-on toys to develop physical skills, and they engage in imaginative play by mixing mud and water. However, babies have fewer opportunities to extend their learning outside and are not always as involved as older children in some outdoor experiences.
