Sparthfield Happy Day Nursery, situated in Clayton le Moors, Accrington, was registered in 2006 and operates as a childcare on non-domestic premises setting, opening Monday to Friday, all year round from 7:30am until 5:30pm. The nursery provides funded early education for two-, three-, and four-year-old children and currently employs 11 childcare staff members, with a total of 66 children on roll at the time of its latest inspection on 27 February 2024.

The nursery provides highly effective support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), ensuring they receive the appropriate assistance to make swift progress. Staff foster strong relationships with children and families, resulting in children feeling emotionally secure and fully engaged in their learning.

Children become self-assured, positive, and ambitious learners, making excellent progress and reaching their full potential. The bespoke curriculum focuses specifically on the development of speech, language, and communication, with staff adopting effective strategies and serving as excellent language role models, which ensures children become eloquent and powerful communicators.

How they support every child

SEND provision

The provision for children with SEND is highly supportive. The special educational needs coordinator works with staff, parents and external agencies, such as National Portage Association (NPA), to ensure that all children receive the right support at the right time to help them make swift progress. Children with SEND are fully included in the provision which enables them to thrive.

Outdoor space

The inspector observed the quality of education being provided indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this had on children's learning, supporting their development.

The report highlights that the close attachments staff make with children enable them to fully understand each child's unique needs and interests. Staff accurately identify all areas for development and facilitate new learning in a personalised and exciting way. Our son started here in Spetmber 2024. He has thrived in his development and experience in such a short time. He is on first name terms with his keyworker and other members of staff there that he is familiar with. The monthly reporting and feedback we get on the shared system is really informative and person centered around my son. It also let's us see what he has been doing with his day so we can carry these on at home. When we went to look round in the first instance we got a really nice home from home feeling from the layout and staff we saw and spoke with. The other children appeared happy and content and staffing levels were good. The manager and staff are very helpful and informative and get back to you quickly when questions are asked. Child welfare is always at their focus and they let the child lead the way with their care. For example our son was between the baby room and and toddler room, there was no push for him to be in one area or the other and he is able to go between the 2 rooms as he wants. Thanks for providing such a good service. It gives us peace of mind as parents knowing he is in good hands and developing well.

the owners are bullying, nasty pieces of work. it is ran like a dictatorship. the ofsted rating is the show they put on the day. if i could give 0 stars i would. complaint logged with ofsted. see ofsted record for further information.this nursery also charges significantly more than the market rate which is not reflected in the care given. better nurseries in the area, one which my son has since settled well in.

3 of our children have been to Sparthfield. I would recommend this nursery to anyone without a second thought. I feel that the staff all create individual bonds and relationships with the children. Our kids love it and have blossomed whilst being here 👏👏

Absolutely beautiful building and the manager is lovely and clearly works very hard such a shame her team let’s her down. Very clicky staff who don’t make you feel welcome at all, staff make it very obvious they have favourite children which leads to children being left out. Their hygiene isn’t up to standard children drinking all out the same cups which is very unhygienic especially with Covid around and the bibs had black mold in them, staff didn’t seem to like when I mentioned this to the manager and after that I was made to feel uncomfortable in the setting so i felt like this I didn’t want my son attending this nursery as I felt like I couldn’t really trust the staff as I didn’t feel like they were a good team and definitely not a good environment to be in for me or my son
