Spring Hollies, established in 2022, is a childcare setting in Taunton serving children aged 0-4 years. Open each weekday from 8am to 6pm, all year round, it received a "Good" rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 15th January 2025.
The nursery focuses on supporting children's personal, social, and emotional skills within its broad curriculum. Staff work closely with parents to ensure children settle in gradually and feel comfortable, fostering positive interactions and spontaneous cuddles.
Children develop good independence and hand-eye coordination, with activities tailored to their age, such as babies stacking blocks, toddlers helping set tables, and pre-schoolers engaging in table-top games. The curriculum is designed to encourage purposeful play and good progress, from babies exploring sensory activities to pre-school children making "gloop" and refining their pincer grip.
The nursery encourages language development, with children repeating words, forming sentences, and describing textures. Parents speak highly of staff, appreciating being kept well-informed of their children's activities.
The indoor environment features cosy book areas where children can snuggle with cushions, and a quiet area for babies and toddlers to rest. Spring Hollies offers outdoor play where children can exercise and develop physical skills, using ride-on toys, pushing prams, and jumping on space hoppers.
While babies enjoy climbing and sliding, staff are working to further develop outdoor planning to consistently support all areas of learning for children who learn best outdoors. The provider has successfully improved practices since the previous inspection, promoting staff well-being and establishing effective communication within the team and with other agencies.
